Roxy You Are Not A Cat!

Sometimes I think Roxy thinks she is a cat. Roxy is around Buckles so much that she is picking up what Buckles is doing. When Buckles swats at Roxy she thinks she is playing and Roxy begins to swat back. Roxy will even lick her paws and even try and wash her face. It is so cute watching her act like a cat. Roxy would even rather eat cat food than dog food. That is a problem because she needs to eat her own food. I have to buy cat food all the time. I think Buckles is even getting tired of Roxy eating her food. I walked in the kitchen the other day and Buckles was eating Roxy’s dog food. It’s crazy that my animals would rather eat each other’s food than their own. I guess they like what they like.

Roxy Goes To The Lake

We decided to take Roxy to the lake so she could enjoy some sun and water. We also wanted to see how she acted around water because other than a bath she never was around any. She really liked being on the boat but we realized very quickly she did not like the idea of getting in the water. So we tried to get her used to it my putting her feet in. She did not like it and did all she could to get out of it. The funny thing about it was that even when we picked her up out of the water she still would doggy paddle. It just shows you how they are born knowing how to swim. Even though she does not like the water she still knows how to swim, that is if she absolutely had to!

Can all dogs swim?

Roxy Has A Play Date!

Roxy loves playing with other dogs. I have never seen her around another dog that she did not want to play with. I would have to say though that her two best friends are LuLu and Hazel. LuLu is a Shih Tzu mix and Hazel is an Australian Shepherd. Roxy and LuLu are about the same size but Hazel is about three times her size. She plays with both of them so well though. Roxy and LuLu, because they are the same size, just roll around with each other and wrestle. They will pin each other and never run out of energy. But it is a different story when Roxy and Hazel play. Roxy never runs out of energy and Hazel gets tired out really fast. But it is so cute watching them run around and Hazel trying to herd her. Roxy loves her play dates. If my mom or Jamy come to the house they better have LuLu or Hazel because if not Roxy will search the house looking for them. She can smell them on my mom and Jamy and she doesn’t understand why she can’t find them. It is so fun watching them play and is absolutely hilarious. I love it when she has play dates because she will sleep all night long. She is just like a child.

Roxy hates it when I leave her home by herself. She knows she is going to have to go in her crate and she does not like it at all. I started trying to train her to go into her crate on her own when I told her that I had to go bye, bye. When I said it I would walk her to her crate and let her walk in herself and then when she was in I would give her a treat. I started to notice one day when I would start to leave the house Roxy would run from me and not let me pick her up. She knew when I was about to leave the house before I even knew. But then one day I was getting ready to leave the house and I could not find her anywhere. I looked absolutely everywhere. I thought surely she is not being good and is already in her crate and sure enough she was curled up in her crate. I couldn’t believe it. I gave her a treat and she is still going and getting in her crate on her own. I am proud that she finally learned something. Next step potty training!

Roxy loves it when people come to the house. Every time someone comes I tell her “Roxy Somebody is here to see you” and she will run towards the door. Well one day we were outside in the backyard and I was letting Roxy do her business. When she was finished she went around to the side of the house and when I called for her she did not come. I knew she had not gone far because our backyard is fenced in, so I decided to yell “Roxy is somebody here to see you!” She came around the side of the house running as fast as she could and jumping like a deer. I learned from that point on to get her to come in I would just yell those words. It works every time, but I feel bad for tricking her… Not Really!!

Roxy has begun to be quite the guard dog. She will bark at any noise that she hears during the day or night. She will go toward the door like she could eat somebody but once you see her you just say “oh, how cute.” It probably makes her upset to know that she is putting all this effort into sounding mean and no one is afraid of her. When I am here by myself she barks at everything but when I am hear with my boyfriend she doesn’t seem to bark as much. I guess she is more protective of me when I am by myself. Who knows? But even though she is not very ferocious I feel safe when I am with her. She is my attack dog and that’s all I care about.

Roxy and Buckles

It was a typical morning in my household Roxy tearing things up and Buckles (the cat) laying on the couch looking out the window. I was in the bathroom getting ready to go to work when I heard a commotion coming from the hallway. I looked out the bathroom door into the hallway when I seen Roxy chasing Buckles, which is not an unusual sight. What the unusual part was, was the next commotion I heard was Buckles chasing Roxy! Buckles is too lazy to eat half the time let alone chase Roxy. But ever since that day they take turns chasing each other it is the craziest sight ever. But with Buckles being 15 years old I guess she needs the exercise. I wonder if Buckles realizes that her workout partner is 14 years younger than her. Oh well as long as it’s keeping her young! Go Buckles!

Roxy Gets A Haircut

BEFORE

Roxy was in bad need of some grooming. Since she is a Maltese her hair gets really long and it will cover her eyes. It will even begin to knot up on her ears and sides. So my boyfriend dropped her off at the groomer and I told him to tell them just to trim her but that I didn’t want all of her hair cut off. Well when I went to pick her up from the groomers I went in and they brought out Roxy. I looked at her and said “Is that Roxy?!” She did not look the same at all. Every bit of hair was gone. I’m sure she feels a lot better when she is outside, but still she does not look the same. Oh well it’s just hair it will grow back, I hope!

Roxy Goes For a Ride

Roxy absolutely hates riding in the car. I don’t understand it, most dogs love to be in the car hanging their heads out of the window with the wind smacking them in the face. But not Roxy! As soon as she gets in the car she begins to whine and shake all over. I believe it is not the car ride she is scared of but where we are going. I say this because she will whine and cry the entire way to where we are going but whenever we get in the car to come back home she is as calm as a cucumber. For example we took her to the beach last year which is a five hour drive. The entire way to the beach she shook all over. But when it was time to go home she got in the car, never shook one time and slept the entire way. It is CRAZY!!

Like every dog Roxy has her favorite toys. She has a Chewy Vuitton pocket book (HA, HA) and a green lizard. Anytime you sit on the couch or for that matter anywhere, even the toilet, she thinks you need to be throwing her toys. She LOVES to play fetch. If you ignore her she will put the toy right in your hand or lap, I guess she thinks you just don’t see it or hear her whining. Once you throw it one time she thinks you need to do it 100 times. You just can’t tell her no though because she is just so cute. Sometimes she just likes playing by herself. You will hear her squeaking the daylights out of her toy and then you will see it fly through the air. It cracks me up that she has learned how to throw it herself. Don’t get me wrong I love playing with her but sometimes I just want to watch TV.
